Key Information

Both our schools have fascinating histories and are integral parts of the village community.

St Martin’s has been on its current site for the last 40 years, an event we celebrated in the autumn term of 2007. The original school was situated on the High Street, but the decision was made to move to a purpose built unit on Burnham Road, and the school has never looked back. In recent years, the build has seen modification, as the requirements changed and the school grew. To celebrate the anniversary, we held a service at the church and held a party back in school, with 1960s style! Spam and jam, and rock and roll!!!

West Butterwick School is still based in the original building, and although there have been many changes made over the years, the original character is very evident. The most recent changes to the school brought high excitement, as remains were discovered during the digging of the foundations for the new office extension. We even made the local papers!

Both schools are highly involved with the local churches and Methodist chapels, and services and assemblies are often held there. Being part of the community is very important to us all, and we try to participate in local events, supporting village discos etc. We have recently been involved in the campaign to try to stop the closure of the local post offices.

The village hall at West Butterwick plays a vital role in school life, being the base for our Nursery unit, and being used by the older children for PE sessions, and drama.
